Just so folks know. NordVPN blocks all upload ports when you choose the P2P setting. I confirmed this when I talked to Nordvpn Support. Supposedly if you choose a non P2P server they don’t but they might black list you from using that server.
Funny thing is they don’t mention this fact on their website anywhere (crappy…).
Yes NordVPN don’t offer port forwarding, if that’s what you want you need to use a provider who does.
The article you linked to says " If you connect to other NordVPN servers while using P2P traffic, the app will reroute you to our P2P servers in Canada or the Netherlands to keep you safe " … so that’s what happens if you mistakenly connect to a non P2P server, your traffic will automatically be passed through Ca or NL.
Unless you’re a member of a private tracker and need to maintain an upload ratio, I wouldn’t worry too much. Chances are you just care about leeching, you probably download it and then close the client. If you care about uploading and keeping a good ratio, I’d recommend going with PIA instead of Nord. I’m actually asking Nord for a refund because I need the port forwarding to keep my ratio on private trackers
I’m trying to find a reputable VPN that supports port forwarding. I was looking into PIA but it doesn’t look like a safe option, in addition to other issues as outlined here: PIA: fast, but troubling ties
