ProtonVPN Interfering with Apple Maps in iOS

Has anyone else had a problem using Apple Maps in iOS when ProtonVPN is being used? I could not figure out why Apple Maps couldn’t provide me with routing. It just seemed hung up. Upon disconnecting ProtonVPN, Apple Maps immediately provided the alternative routes and the “Go” button.

It seems like ProtonVPN’s latest releases are significantly less Mac/iOS friendly. Really driving me away from what has been an excellent product. Continue to feel that Mac (and now iOS) users are treated like lesser customers. Thoughts?

Update: Had the same problem using the Parkmobike app. Wouldn’t work until
ProtonVPN was disconnected.

I am having several issues with websites or apps on my iPad and iPhone and constantly have to disable ProtonVPN and surf with my normal IP. I am going to test another supplier I use to see if I have any issues with them.

A quick solution you could try is to switch to a different server or try another connection protocol: https://protonvpn.com/support/how-to-change-vpn-protocols/.

If this doesn’t help, please feel free to contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support-form so we can dig deeper.

This would be less frustrating if there was a way to use automations to switch profiles to connection settings, depending on the location/network connection, such as while using CarPlay or driving, vs at home or work.

Yes. But when you have to do it multiple times a day and you don’t get email and alerts because your internet connection is gone, it becomes quite frustrating. It is well past time that Proton figure out the Max problem. The iOS problem is recent, but significant.
I suggest that they invest the time and efforts required - buy some Macs and iPhones. Put other apps on it and see where the conflicts occur. Figure out the fixes.
Lastly, I have pointed out the vast discrepancies between servers in my area. They are like day and night — I simply cannot understand why.
