The few things I did download with them didn’t seem to be any slower.
So it’s not because qBitTorrent is trying to be a ratio hero, there just isn’t enough upload bandwidth to communicate for the downloads
There’s a new update to the app just now.
I’m not a great torrenter. I jump in, grab, and only share stuff that is recently finished or presently downloading. A torrent with a lot of seeds comes down like an avavalanche. If anyone were to get ratioed it would probably be me
It has always been the case that torrent clients get choked if you are uploading something too much. The rule was always to limit your upload speed to about 30% of your available bandwidth (you ought to test your speed). But I always limit to about 10-15%
Oh that makes sense. I had read in another thread though that if you are considered a leech they limit your download speed. Is that true?
I downloaded the client today so I had that update.
like hell i update from 6.33 on windows and 4.13.2 on android and lose inapp login, and curse myself with their weblogin(which allow for 2fa) bs they are doing cause their user credentials are leaked everywhere, and the inapp login bypasses that pesky 2fa
I don’t know why the qbittorent devs would care about that, maybe they were talking about a torrenting site that cares about your ratio?
Must be something about your system. I get as much as 8Mbps and I’m on a slow line.
Hmm perhaps that’s it
Just realized the client uses kibibytes and mebibytes, not kilobytes and megabytes. So confusing.
Ok so before I was getting 15 or so kib/s which is like a 10th of a megabit/s. Now I’m getting 6 MiB/s which is about 50 megabit/s, nearly a 500x increase. And the only difference is I went from NordVPN to Mullvad.
Granted, it’s still not close to my actual connection which would be another 2x this speed but not sure what else I can do.
Sounds like you’re good!
