Qnap Nord VPN and remote access

Hi guys so far I have managed to connect Nordvpn to my Qnap and make used it as Nas default gateway following the link on how to configure Qnap but how do I connect to my Nas remotely using Vpn ? Do I have to open ports in my Asus router or is there something else I have to do ? Thanks .

You won’t be able to access your NAS with NordVPN only. However, If you are already familiar with NordVPN, we’ve got a feature called Meshnet that will be helpful. Note that you can’t install NordVPN directly on your Qnap NAS.

However, you can still access your NAS remotely by having another device in your local network act as a traffic routing point. See the documentation article that goes into more detail: https://meshnet.nordvpn.com/how-to/remote-access/access-nas

Use MyQnapCloud

Or Tailscale

Something else will this work even if my PC is off ? Cause now the meshnet is installed in my pc and not inside my Qnap ? Can I have the meshnet inside the Qnap ? Thanks

Thank you so much it did work perfectly! Tell me will this work if I change the ip to a domain name ? Or it only works with the Nas IP and port ? Thanks :folded_hands:

I am using myqnap cloud . But I already have a subscription with Nordvpn so I need to sort this one out :). Thanks

I’m not sure what domain are we talking about. Is it the Nord name of your Meshnet device? If so then it will work both with the IP address and the Nord name, keep in mind that you will still have to add the port unless you spin up a reverse proxy (such as nginx).

What are your needs? MyQnapCloud is already encrypted with HTTPS. No need for a VPN.

I guess you could try running the NordVPN app in Container Station or Virtualization Station and using the NordVPN “Meshnet” feature. But I don’t see why.

I am running it with the Qvpn app and its been set as the default gateway it’s all working good , but my question can I access my Qnap using the Vpn IP ?

Access it with your myqnapcloud url.
