I’m a constant VPN user since I work mobile and connect to various wifi hotspots.
Over the years, I’ve tried several ranging from Nord to PIA to Pure. Currently trying out Speedify, which suffers from speed hiccups from time to time (though a quick reconnect usually does the trick).
But I’m curious which VPN are you using, and possibly is there one that you can recommend? The problem with most VPN is that although I choose to connect to a Singapore server, it connects instead to Malaysian/Indonesian one and messes up my search results. Also, the performance of VPN providers fluctuates over the years, so although PIA might be good a couple of years ago, I’m not sure how they’re doing now.
So I guess my question is, which VPN do you use, and while I’m at it maybe find out one that:
a) provides an acceptable level of security (though I do not wish to get into this debate)
Using this post to ask this related question. Can someone explain the importance of a VPN to me?
So far what I know is, it’s to protect myself from being tracked on the Internet or smth? I stream a lot of football illegal streams, so people have advised me to get a VPN or I’ll get in trouble.
But I’ve never heard of a single real world case of someone suffering consequences from the lack of VPN. So I’m not sure why it’s so important
If you have a internet connection at home, just run a VPN server on your router and use that instead of paying for one. If your router does not have a VPN function, you can use a raspberry pi or pc and run pi vpn
ExpressVPN and Nord VPN. Yea subscribing two VPN services can be costly yearly. But I got my reason.
I can watch US Netflix such as Star Wars Movies, Hulu, Boomerang, HBO Now, Adult Swim shows, US only Crunchyroll shows etc. with no problem.
(How do I able to access to all that sites is another story).
I got a PIA subscription when it was on sale, the price has recently increased. Speed is ok, most of the time I can stream 1080p when connected to US/CA server with not much lag (on 1 Gbps fibre/4G connection). However it is based in US (if you’re really concerned about privacy). I find it pretty the built-in server-side MACE adblock for Android pretty useful as Blokada can’t run when connected to another VPN.
Check out /r/vpnreviews/. Also if you need it for Netflix, some VPNs are blocked by Netflix.
Well they always target the streamer, not the watcher. But if you’re torrenting or using P2P to watch football, then it’s definitely safer to use VPN. Look up bloodzeed on Google news, though I doubt UK police are going to spend resources to catch small time streamers in other parts of the world.
Privacy, for when you’re using wifi networks that aren’t owned by you. You never know who is deploying software on those networks sniffing for your info, and VPNs can ensure they won’t get that info.
Illegal Football streams are a possibility, although it isn’t worth the effort to hunt down a single individual. You never know though
