Shared IP vs Dedicated IP

I wanted to buy a VPN service, but I noticed it uses shared IPs. My main concern for the shared IPs is if someone’s plotting a murder using the same IP that I have. Isn’t that dangerous?

I’m not sure if Dedicated IPs run into the same problem or if they’re more trackable than shared IPs.

If anything, a dedicated IP is less secure. Since you’d be the only one using the IP, it’s much easier to track you. And if you ever do anything on the VPN that links you to yourself irl, then everything you’ve done on the VPN can be linked back to you.

On a shared IP, the fact that many users are sharing the address means that it’s much more difficult to discern and track your specific traffic compared to everyone else’s.

In short, you get much more anonymity with a shared IP.

But ‘dangerous’ is totally relative and depends on your specific case. Why do you want a VPN in the first place? For example, if you are trying to protect yourself from your ISP, it doesn’t matter whether your VPN provides a dedicated or shared IP.

the entire purpose of a vpn is to blend your data/interneting in with other peoples, so you have more privacy… and websites cant track you… etc… etc…
your reasoning is flawed a bit…
as the purpose of a vpn is to not keep logs so there is no way to track your actual computer/ip to what you do online…
but there are advanced ways to do just that…

has TONS of info on icreasing your online privacy…

Well shared IP is better if you going for a VPN as their less chances of being traced and provider can’t tell who used the IP and for what use, and every time you can browse the web with different IP. On the other hand, dedicated IP are usually preferred by Business or people who willingly want the same location with the same IP.
