I have an Insignia tv with a Fire Stick built in and the App Store says that PIA is unavailable. I couldn’t see any solutions on here. Anyone know what to do?
Why not side load PIA. Download the app from PIA, use a file manager such as Mixplorer or Total Commander to install.
If you download the Android PIA apk you can side load it to your fire stick. Apps2Fire is a pretty reliable app to use to do, it but others are available.
Whilst not officially supported the FireOS is essentially just Android with an Amazon skin over the top and restriction to the Amazon app store, pretty much anything android will run on it though.
i downloaded the apk from the PIA site (not sure if they still have that option). otherwise you can find it on various apk sites.
Where do you live? Could be a regional issue.
Just use the OpenVPN Android App
If you chat with support snd tell them your issue they at have a link you could enter manually via the “downloader” app… in other words ….
-
download the DOWNLOADER app from the search/App Store
-
enter the link exactly as the PIA tech support gives
-
download and enjoy
I say this because I too ran into the same issue
I switched to nordvpn from pia, the performance increase is double
Here’s the link on their support site. Works like a charm. https://helpdesk.privateinternetaccess.com/guides/other-hardware/amazon-firestick/how-to-install-the-pia-vpn-app-on-an-amazon-firestick
Worked beautifully! I don’t know how I missed that Thank you for posting it here!
You could also look at setting up a cheap firewall like PFSense on a Raspberry Pi. That would sit on your network between your modem and your router, and essentially you can configure it so all your traffic goes through the VPN by default
