I managed to get this to work for me. So basically I used UFO VPN Basic on my android phone to claim it and it worked. I connected to the South Korea server btw.
Connecting to a server of choice requires premium however there is an option to watch an ad and get 25 mins of premium for free which is more than enough to log in and claim the game.

It worked. I used Hoxx vpn for browser. I didn’t need a vpn for whole computer.
