I haven’t seen any ban before if using vpn to claim free game.
Only seen people got ban because using vpn while playing a uplay game which is protected by BattleEye. Another guy was using vpn to make illegal R6 credit purchase in a cheaper region

Was searching for comments to make sure of everything and yours was simple, straight to the point and insightful so thanks for saving me time, much respect.
Regardless, it’s still a risk, I don’t think it’s necessarily wise to promote the idea of using a VPN to get a free game that isn’t offered in your home country… especially to people who might not know what they’re doing or what risks they’re assuming.
Do you think that Ubisoft doesn’t have the ability to see “where” you’re logging in? That it wouldn’t be a red flag for users who have always been using their services from a US-West IP to be suddenly logging in from South Korea IP addresses only during this giveaway?
I agree with /u/Black3ird here – If you value your account at all, maybe skip this one. It’s a ten year old game, and compared to the newer AC games it’s fairly dated at this point. It’s even on sale on Uplay right now for $5 so if you want a legitimate copy it’s cheap as hell.
But hey, it’s your account, and your risk to assume if you decide to roll those dice. Just don’t be daft and assume that Uplay isn’t able to track your actions on their platform. Me? I’m not gonna risk my account and all the games I’ve purchased over the years over what amounts to a $5 game.

Ubisoft has a lot specific distribution of some games for east Asia (China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia). Specialy AC ones got in this countries are ONLY for use there.
We can bypass the giveaway, but not the files Uplay will install, which differ from the US, EU, JP, Latin America and any other region. Everyone of them has their own files and are separeted entries on Ubi servers. You’ll need to download other packs from non-Uplay fonts after install it for use at least in english most of the time, which would be the same than just simplier install a cracked version.
