USB Camera is not recognized by Windows 10 PC when connected with Pulse Secure VPN

Working from home, our company uses Pulse Secure as a vpn. I noticed this when i didn’t have a dedicated webcam.

If Pulse Secure is connected, and i hook up my DSLR camera…my PC does not recognize it.

If i disconnect Pulse Secure and connect my DSLR camera, it works fine.

If i connect the camera before connecting with Pulse Secure, it works until the camera is disconnected, then it can’t connect again.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?!

Talk to your IT department. It is likely that USB is disabled while on VPN for data security reasons. Unfortunately, the USB itself would be disabled as opposed to device classes since even a camera can act as a storage device.

that makes sense, there’s no way they’ll let us enable that though if it’s disabled on purpose.

I thought it might be the case, but being able to use my dedicated webcam, and graphics tablet that has an SD card was throwing me.

thanks!
