VPN on android and ios actually a bit useless ? (Apple id etc...)

Ok, i know the vpn still has its use, but how is a vpn any use on these devices when google and apple can still see your id (apple id or gmail) and see what you search or do in apps ?

Windows 10 also uses an advertisement id that is unique to your pc. Isn’t a vpn then compromised since the big players can still follow what you do ?

Anyone can clear up this issue ? Perhaps i see this wrong ?

Thanks

A VPN is really only guaranteed to keep your ISP from seeing what you do online, it doesn’t offer any inherent protection from being tracked by other entities because of, as you mentioned, all the tracking they can do with other data. On a phone it would prevent AT&T or Verizon or TMobile, whoever your service provider is, from seeing what you do.

Edit: also if you use wifi, it’ll offer more security when connecting to public networks.

what if you don’t have any google on your android phone?

And did anyone think about androids’ keyboard privacy policy?

Well, if you are still on Windows 10 you’re probably not THAT worried about privacy.

Use Linux on PC, custom Android OS, and don’t use iOS. Problem solved.

I think a VPN alone wouldn’t even defend against big player’s tracking, they’ll always try and track you, but if you never ever log in with an account with personally identifiable information that was used with your real ip, how can you be deanonimized?

of course even better would be to not login, to not even have that ability and block known bad domains and disable stuff.

edit: clarity

Ok, thanks for the confirmation and the comments.

if you’re using anything other than free and opensource firmware and software you will keep turning random shit off until the end of times and it won’t matter.

Searched Win. I have Settings > Privacy and security > but no "General ". Any clue where I am off?

Not if your VPN also provides ad/tracking/telemetry blocking inside the tunnel.

But of course, your mobile provide can, will and already does sell your location data with anybody willing to pay for it.

and what is the name of this one?

No but i imagine they’re looking at my text messages and thinking what a boring loser

Lol… there goes that elephant.

If you ever had an iPhone or Android, what’s the difference?
