I like default Logitech launcher. Is simple as I expect for such specific device. I disable most Google applications like GMail and Calendar, and silent almost all notifications. Have just a single app running wasn’t a problem until today, when I install a VPN client and found it is closed if I open another app in portable mode. Luckily a workaround exists:
open any app in portable mode, except the VPN app;
go to tablet mode (settings menu);
start VPN app and connect to a VPN server;
return to portable mode;
run your apps normally, except the VPN app (it will be running on background and will be closed if you open it and switch to another app after that).
Is there a better solution? Can I configure a specific app to not be closed if I switch to another app in portable mode?
In game mode go to Settings> More Settings (bottom)> Android settings(only option)> Network(first option)…> VPN, tap gear icon, move “always on” slider to on
make sure the settings saved, a restart helps, make sure VPN is started on restart, if not staying on during games, go back and also check “block w/o VPN,” and repeat restart.
My VPN SurfShark connection seems to stick, but it’s mostly off at home.
If you’re primarily using it at home you can put a vpn config on your router (or get a secondary router just for the vpn) and then all devices on the router get vpn automatically so it’s good for devices that have issues or don’t support a vpn client app. Probably not what you are looking for especially if you’re away from home, but having a vpn on the router can be pretty convient and let’s you bypass any client issues for any device.
