VPN recommendations

hello i know this is an annoying post and i apologize, but with endless options and dubious sponsorships pushed by podcasts (no issue with podcasts taking sponsors, i just don’t fully trust, for example, Nord VPN or Express VPN)

i would prefer on with a podcast link / discount code, but i couldn’t find any under the darknet diaries sponsors list (which is hella long so i could’ve just missed it)

any help would be good. it’s only for streaming purposes, trying to watch a silly show. thanks!

Mullvad vpn is the safest one and it is what most hackers use. You can pay with crypto and any other information they have of you is saved in RAM.

Why you should get Mullvad specifically

Here’s a VPN tier list from a privacy focused account called Techlore in case you’re interested in knowing why I recommended the ones I did

You shouldn’t trust them.

I do like protons free VPN. It’s good enough for me 90% of the time.

ProtonVPN (what I use), MullvadVPN, iVPN

I used Mulvad and now IPVanish because of tvOS

Yeah I’ve never had issues with Proton VPN

This is the correct answer.

other information they have of you is saved in RAM.

so if they get raided and dont shut things off, you’re fucked?

i very much appreciate this, thank you.

i listened to darknet diaries in the beginning when there were around 20 episodes and fell off for whatever reason, until now. so i was hoping the listeners today would know what was up

i am, thank you! everywhere online ranks Nord at the tip-top with thousands of comments and anecdotes backing that claim but i just don’t buy it

pretty insightful, thanks

protonmail has a vpn? oh i see that in the link on Jack’s website — that’s what you mean yeah? thanks, friend

not really. they have been subjected to arrest warrant before and the feds didn’t find anything. https://mullvad.net/en/blog/2023/4/20/mullvad-vpn-was-subject-to-a-search-warrant-customer-data-not-compromised

Other thing is Mullvad is based in Sweden and they have a very good privacy law. .

Also “the other information” is basically just your account information which if you pay with xmr you don’t care about. when you first connect to Mullvad, your real IP address is briefly visible to their servers but they don’t log or store that info. Their servers don’t use hard drives or SSDs, so there’s no persistent data storage that could be seized and analyzed. your traffic is also routed through Mullvad’s servers using their assigned VPN IP, not your real IP.

They did get raided and the cops left with nothing.

That’s because Nord offers a lot of sponsorships but they’re nowhere near the top as far as privacy goes. Especially when you consider the fact they’ve been breached and took a while before letting their customers know

Proton mail is their mail.

Proton VPN is their VPN .

See how that works?

Yep, NordVPN are trying to advertise their way to the top.

i understand the brand is proton, i was referring to the package that includes protonmail and the vpn, which i believe is what is offered in the link from the darknet diaries sponsors. thanks for your help
