Hey - I tried to research but couldn’t find anything that helps. I’m wanting to buy a VPN but wanted to see if I could connect it directly to my Xfinity gateway? If I can’t, do I need to buy a VPN router and go that direction instead? Trying to get a VPN so I can watch out of market sports games

One advantage of setting up your VPN through your router is that all devices connected to that router will be connected to the vpn. So for instance if your VPN provider only allows “X” simultaneous connections, you can bypass this with a VPN router.
Im not sure in your instance why you cannot just connect through the VPN app on your PC, do you really need to connect it to your router?
I also dont think xfinity gateway will support VPN usage, youll have to get another router for that but as mentioned i dont think you needed one in the first place
If you’re just trying to watch on computer and phone, you can use the VPN apps on those. If you’re trying to get a smart TV connected or something, I recommend getting a cheap router that supports VPN connections, plugging it into your gateway, and setting up a separate WiFi network with a different name. Then you’ll know that anything connected to that network will always be on a VPN.
