Why did almost all of the VPN locations disappear? I'm left with just Germany, USA, UK?

I need to VPN to Japan but it is no longer an option. Windows app.

Hi there, thank you for bringing this up. Sounds like this could be caused by our NoBorders feature, which enabled a limited list of servers that are usable with network restrictions.

I would highly recommend checking if it is enabled in the Surfshark app. You can find it by going to the Surfshark app → Settings → VPN Settings → Advanced security.

In case that does not help, please also try reinstalling the app completely by following this guide:

Thanks for the response. I disabled No Borders and the full list is back again.

Could you please explain why someone would enable No Borders?

Any reason it would randomly enable itself? Google brought me to this thread after I searched for the same problem. Turns out it was switched on for me too despite me not even knowing it existed.

Glad to hear you see the full location list again! NoBorders is mainly used by people in countries with network restrictions. These restrictions can sometimes make it so they are unable to connect to the VPN, and NoBorders enables a list of locations that should help bypass the restrictions.
