The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) proudly announces the most important exhibition in its history, “Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musee National Picasso, Paris.” The VMFA is the only museum on the East Coast to host the exhibition as it travels on a seven-city international tour.

Celebrate spring with A Million Blooms — offering a million ways to have fun in the Garden and featuring a spectacular succession of blooms including daffodils, cherry blossoms, tulips, iris, roses and peonies. New this year A Million Blooms kicks off with Orchids Galore! — a spectacular display of orchids in the Conservatory. (March 12 – April 10). The celebration continues with millions of blooms throughout the spring season: daffodils, cherry blossoms, tulips, irises, roses and peonies. Highlights include special events such as Easter Weekend, Mother’s Day, the Spring Plant Sale and plant shows, and activities in the Children’s Garden.

The Virginia Arts Festival lights up stages throughout the region, presenting hundreds of artists from around the world in more than 50 unforgettable performances of music dance and more. The festival will group several events in one city to create a mini-festival over a long weekend. Enjoy the best in music, dance troupes, dance companies and Acrobats. 50 days, 9 cities, hundreds of world-class artists…

Winefest also features locally crafted beers, live music, regional foods, art and bay-related exhibits, yacht cruises, and a wealth of other fun happenings.

Frederick’s own City Carillonneur, John Widmann, plays Bach, Handel, de Fesch, van den Gheyn and other Baroque masters on the Joseph Dill Baker Carillon. Bring a blanket, sit on the grass or stroll along Carroll Creek, while enjoying great music played on Frederick’s fabulous carillon.
This concert is FREE and open to the public. No tickets required.

The Arts Walk is a self-guided walking tour that features opening receptions and exhibitions at downtown art galleries, museum displays, literary and dance performances, live music and theatre, shopping at a variety of retail destinations, and dining at some of the area’s finest restaurants. The evening also includes “hands-on” children’s activities on board the Allegany Arts Council’s Arts Bus .
Some of the evening performances may require the purchase of tickets; most activities are FREE and many participating venues offer discounts to Arts Walk participants.
