As I expected, now Binance seems to be being blocked in Venezuela

I just got this email (translated to English):

Dear Binancians,

Like several websites of companies from different segments in Venezuela, including social networks, Binance pages have been facing access restrictions only in Venezuela.

We want to inform you that your funds are safe (SAFU) under our security protocols.

We understand the difficulty and concern that this situation may generate. We are monitoring the situation closely to address it in the best and fastest way possible.

I am so sad about this, yeah I know everything about CEX and self custody, but P2P market of Binance is huge, easiest way of exchanging your Bolivares (Bs) to crypto. And crypto back to Bs.

This makes me feel so sad, remember I am Venezuela living (trying to) here in Venezuela

It sucks. Canadian here; we’re out too.

Ooh, bugger mate.

What’s the next best CEX you have access to?

Sad to hear that the dictator is acting like one…

I have the bad feeling that a long civil war is going to happen/is happening if other governments dont do anything to remove Maduro from the power.

Good luck and stay safe!

Does that mean software wallet are illegal too?

man this is rough, have you tried any alternatives successfully yet? also would just using a VPN work?

Sad for the civilians

As a Venezuelan, let me add that here in this country, a very high % of the People move finances around airtm and binance.
For us its the safest way to exchange and save money, Also to receive help from family outside the country.

The reason for binance to send this message to every Venezuelan is because, we have been moving the binance market for too many years, maybe most of the loyal clients of binance are here and Also a big % of their financial services

It’s never a good sign when an exchange feels the need to tell you that your funds are SAFU

Get your coins out of Binance asap - ideally get a hardware wallet. Maybe some XMR as well

Hi,

Okx

But p2p market un binance doesnt have comparison

I don’t see a civil war happening to be honest.

Well cryptocurrency here is legal to use.

This specific problem has to be with Binance

Damn, didn’t realize crypto was that big in Venezuela. Makes sense though. When your own currency’s busted, you gotta get creative.

If I understand correctly. Instead of using bank transfer, PayPal, Revolut, Wise etc. You’d send bolívar or USD or USDT to someone through Binance.

Do you ever cash out? If not, how do you buy groceries for example?

Edit: typo

In this case I don’t think there is a big problem besides the access to them.

Most VPN at least free ones offer connection to USA, and doing that Binance won’t work because it doesn’t work there

Binance always does though. “Hey, here’s our newsletter. Btw, your funds are SAFU”

Dero is entirely decrypted and the devs don’t care to fix it.

Thanks I wish i had enough crypto to worry about that let alone buy a hardware wallet hehehe

Thanks my friend

Ah, bugger. Wishing you the best going forwards!
