Change Healthcare Cyber Attack - All Claims Rejecting For Many BINs

Mayo Clinic is doing the same

Yeah our support center has been flooded with calls about this. It is impacting basically every pharmacy in the country.

Are you still having this problem? I work for a company called Waystar and more than willing to help.

Same here. We also aren’t receiving prescriptions that are being escribed. It has been a mess since yesterday for us.

Are you all still running into these issues? I work for a company called Waystar and we’ve been helping people that use change. Let me know!

I take Mounjaro for diabetes and I have been super polite and understanding. I just call or swing by daily to see if it’s working yet, if not I just say thank you and try the next day. Thanks for all you do!

Fuck them. Why can’t I get $1000 a month for being healthy and disciplined with my diet.

Do you know if it affects the Zepbound card too?

Yep , I work in a dermatology specialty and all of the manufacturer coupons were down (winlevi, rhofade, etc)

Yes, it will. Many of the coupon cards use Change Healthcare as an intermediary, so those claims are being rejected as well.

Yes, it very well could.

It affects everything yes

Yes, two of the largest coupon vendors (ConnectiveRx and Eversana) rely on Change Healthcare for processing so they are down.

It’s one of a very few number of services in the business of routing Rx data. And appears to be a major single point of failure in this environment.

The duration of the outage will be an indication of the robustness of their incident response/recovery processes. The fact this happened indicates a gap in their preventive cyber controls.

Due to the impact I see a congressional hearing in the future. Just my opinion.

You would think those laws would prevent that but a majority of all claims processing is owned by two companies in the US :man_shrugging:

Consider that we do have anti-trust laws that are supposed to prevent monopolies, or a duopoly in this case (CMM + Change = 100% of payer coverage). How do you get around being held accountable to anti-trust laws? You pay off judges and politicians. That is what Big Pharma and Big Insurance have done for the last 15-20 years.

Dig in and look at how deep some of these companies are vertically integrated. CVS is prime example. They own the largest insurance company in the US (Aetna) plus many smaller ones that administer Medicare D policies and have BC/BS partnerships in more than a dozen states. They outright own 33% of the PBM market share, plus their partnership with Anthem (IngenioRX) which puts them at about 40% of total PBM market share. They have Minute Clinics in many markets and you are penalized if you seek urgent care elsewhere. And you have to use either their retail or mail order services to get your medications.

Legally, that conglomeration should not be allowed to exist. So consider how legislation has been crafted and judges have ruled that there was nothing wrong with these arrangements. Follow the money my friend!

I can’t wait to come back Monday myself. I’ve got a floater working tomorrow with the newest tech we have on staff. Can’t wait to see what I’m cleaning up Monday.

Realistically best case scenario is I come in to hundreds of e-scripts I guess, since that would mean it’s fixed.

that’s been happening for over a year already with china / precursors for Adhd meds

Blue Cross broke something last night according to sources at 8pm EST

The company stated it was a cyber attack is that incorrect?

That was us Wednesday. Since Thursday it’s been the other way around. Haven’t received a single e-script and have been able to bill insurances 99% with no problem. Secondary billing for discounts are mostly not working though.
