Experience with VPN/VPN recommendations?

I would like to use Mullvad as it is cheap and respects privacy but I thought I would first ask before buying. If there is anyone using Mullvad with stremio + torrentio and RD, how has your experience been so far? Does anyone have any recommendations? Does it even matter which VPN I use? As long as it’s allowed on RD.

And before anyone says that it is unnecessary to use a VPN, I just want to be extra safe, that is all :slightly_smiling_face:

I think speeds and stability matter with a VPN. I’ve been with NordVPN for a decade and I’ve been very happy with the results. Can’t remember the last time I had a problem. I use it for more than RD. Just a good thing to have when travelling or for general privacy. My two cents worth.

PIA has worked well for me.

You can get a VPS and use the PiVPN script to setup a Wireguard or Openvpn server easily. Doesn’t need much spec, you want at least 2 cores and 1GB RAM. Just make sure you have enough egress, most services have a monthly transfer limit depending on what tier you are on. I only use it for IPTV so I don’t need much.

Number #1 pay no attention to anyone here for recommendations. Try all of them in a free trial and then decide

There are literally hundreds to choose from. Just get one on “sale”. (they all are, always) for no more than $50 a year. But, don’t buy it for RD (you don’t need to), buy if for other browsing.

PIA, Nord, surfshack etc the good ones are all basically the same

the same people who tell you not to use a vpn are the same people who bitched and moaned they got doxxed by RD customer support.

This is a criminal orginization. There is no reason to trust them with any data that could possibly identify you if you dont have too.

Mullvad is great, fast, and privacy oriented. Nicely priced, too.

I use digibit vpn. Always been really good and a good price

Mullvad is a good choice for privacy. There are some other solid VPNs out there as well, depending on what you are looking for. Another good, cheap option is Virtual 5G Express. It costs around $1/year. Doesn’t get much cheaper than that.

Virtual 5G Express is the best VPN I’ve found for improving network connectivity and stability. You can use it on any type of network you have. Google Play or the App Store both offer it.

I would use mullvad and stray away from any vpn that keeps spamming their sponsorships on youtube (this is my inner schizo speaking), like nord, surfshark, express, etc.

Enjoy wasting your cash on an extra subscription to something that is completely useless and uneeded.

Rd recommends using a co-operative vpn.

VPN that are whitelisted by RD share your IP with RD, so is it really safe? Using whitelisted VPN is same as Using no VPN.

I use privado VPN that I got free from my usenet subscription, I hand configured it to just bypass the apps I use RD with.

Don’t understand why you’re being downvoted.

Is your digibit still working? My app stopped working last week. I raised a ticket and got no response. They aren’t on play store anymore. And the beggars still took my monthly subscription today. Cancelled on the site and on pp today. Had used them without too many issues for a few years

Yep been using proton for 6 months now the free version and it works great for me!

What does “co-operative” mean in this context?

PIA is recommended on that list but it’s not working at all for me.

Gunna get downvoted for this but RD has threatened to report people for using their service for piracy in the not so distant past. Yeah realistically theyre not actually going to do that, but I wouldnt say its completly useless and uneeded

Rd recommends using a co-operative vpn

and Mullvad, which OP is asking about, is on that list.
