Hey man! I just wanted to check with you, did you have any problems with the power supply for the index when you brought it in? I’ve ordered mine but it’s not here yet. Just wondering if I need to find any power adapters or whatnot.
抱歉才看到哈~估计不行…工作关系要出差很久,2个月动不了电脑,估计也没空玩游戏了…
Nope, currently my computer has only a 670 graphic card. It’s performances is really terrible, I have order a new 2080 but it will arrive in next month. I have only run some demo game, the FPS is low due to my poor graphics card, but the experience is also quit amazing.
It will be fine for local games. Online, great firewall is always a possible problem.
Send it to Hong Kong after the drama calms down, if You have anyone there who can forward it for you.
Maybe a courier or someone travelling to mainland can take it over.
Yikes, that is a difficult and time consuming process!
But also good to know that coming back I should be extra careful with my laptop and new Rift S lol
Thanks man! That’s helpful!
Just get 3 or 4 of them, you will need these power adapters.
Ahh, good idea! I’m going to go ahead and pull the trigger so to speak, and buy a Rift S! Thanks for the advice
It’s just shipping that’s a hassle. Carrying it in luggage is apparently fine.
Do they need to transform the voltage? Or just the shape of the plug is fine?
I prefer the index personally, but all high end vr is awesome!
I picked up the Rift S on taobao, arrived the very next day. No problems whatsoever. It’s a great headset!
Ah! Thanks for that clarification! That’s a load off actually!
whole time on my quest and now it’s sitting on a shelf cause with the index there is no way back.
Was afraid at first to proceed my order but I just did it, I end up buying the quest cause of the disappointment of valve shipping policy for the launch but so worth the move tbh.
For info to order to Singapore this is what I did:
-create a steam account with VPN in us
-create a vpost account
no need to transform anything you just need a uk plug to us plug thats all
Yes! I’m just happy to finally be getting into VR
Oh, that’s awesome! Are you using a VPN or does it connect to Oculus servers without any issues?
Awesome! Thanks man. I can’t wait for mine to come in.
What you will also want now are:
A wireless controller, to play some games that require it. I recommend the official Bluetooth Xbox controller and a Bluetooth dongle.
If you like cars or racing games at all, get a racing wheel and stand and put them behind your chair so you can spin 180 and race ( not quite that easy but close!).
If you like flight sims, a HOTAS is a must.
I set mine up in the living room so the hdmi can reach the tv, and the headset can reach the couch. I play a lot of seated games. Standing vr gets tiring. I’ve had it 2 years already and the roomscale buzz has mostly worn off until good wireless is available.
Sadly the Oculus site is blocked, so you’ll have to use a VPN if you want to buy or play Oculus games. I never connect to the internet without a VPN here anyway, so it doesn’t bother me at all.
Without the VPN, the Oculus software will still start the drivers, although the store doesn’t load, but this will let you load up SteamVR and use that normally.
Oh! I really appreciate the insight! Thanks for taking the time to reply.
So do you just plug your Ethernet directly to your desktop or laptop computer and run VPN on it? I don’t want to mess with setting VPN on a router. I already have to buy a new gaming laptop and the Rift S so trying to minimize what I have to invest haha
Great to know that no matter what there would be SteamVR for backup though. I’ve seen a lot of games on there I want to play in VR.
